New Rosemount Police Officer Takes Oath of Office

Shawn McMenomy was sworn in at Tuesday night's City Council meeting.

Mayor William Droste swore in new Rosemount police officer Shawn McMenomy at Tuesday night's City Council meeting.

Police Chief Gary Kalstabakken introduced McMenomy to the council and other guests at the meeting. McMenomy is a Hastings native who has served on the Rosemount Police Department since May 17.

"[Currently, he's] getting used to our streets and procedures," Kalstabakken said.

McMenomy will begin working as a patrol officer in September when he is finished with his field training.

Before becoming a Rosemount officer, he held such jobs as a security guard within St. Paul Public Schools, park ranger for the Dakota County Sheriff's Office's Parks, Lakes and Trails Division, as well as worked as a corrections officer within the county's jail.
