Rosemount Accepting Applications for City Commissions

Positions are open on Planning, Parks and Recreation and Utility commissions.

 

The City of Rosemount is seeking residents to serve as members of its advisory commissions. 

There are two openings on the Planning Commission, two on the Parks and Recreation Commission and one on the Utility Commission.  The City Council will interview candidates and make appointments.

All Commission terms begin April 1.  Commissioners receive a $35 stipend for each regular meeting they attend. Regular meeting dates of the month are:

  • Planning Commission: 6:30 p.m. on second and fourth Tuesdays
  • Parks and Recreation Commission: 7 p.m. on fourth Mondays
  • Utility Commission: 5:30 p.m. Mondays after the first regular City Council meeting                

The Planning Commission is composed of five members.  Among other things, members prepare or amend the city's comprehensive plan and review all development proposals. The commission also reviews the five-year capital improvement program for compliance with the adopted plans and submit its recommendations to the city council.

The Parks and Recreation Commission recommends policies and actions to create and operate Rosemount’s park system and recreational programs. The Utility Commission supervises staff activity to operate Rosemount’s publicly owned water, sanitary sewer, and storm water utilities.

Residents interested in serving on a Commission may pick up an application at City Hall.  Commission application forms are also available at www.ci.rosemount.mn.us, in the “What’s New” section of the homepage.
