The Rosemount City Council is holding a public meeting Tuesday night at Rosemount City Hall. Here is a preview of the agenda for the meeting, which will be covered by Rosemount Patch.

  • Rosemount Chief of Police Gary Kalstabakken will administer the oath of office to a new police officer. Joshua Swenson previously worked for five and one-half years for the Prairie Island Community Police Department.
  • Rosemount Mayor William Droste is presenting a certificate of commendation to Evan Lowe, a Rosemount High School freshman who will attend the World Irish Dancing Championships in Dublin next month.
  • Approve a resolution supporting an application for Rosemount to become officially designated as a "Beyond the Yellow Ribbon" community by the state of Minnesota.
  • Approve an agreement to receive a $10,000 grant from the Minnesota Department of Health. A local match in the amount of $11,000 will be funded from the city's Water Utility Fund.
  • Ratify an advertisement for bids on a 2011 street improvement project for 145th Street between Diamond Path and Shannon Parkway as well as additional streets in a nearby neighborhood.
  • Amend the city code to eliminate the current requirement to license cats. It currently costs the city of Rosemount at least $8,000 to house unclaimed and unlicensed cats. Rosemount is currently only one of three local cities to license cats.

The next regularly scheduled City Council meeting will be on Tuesday, March 29.
