Rosemount to Officially Become Yellow Ribbon City

The City of Rosemount will be designated as a Yellow Ribbon City Aug. 23 at Inver Hills Community College.

The time has come: Rosemount will officially be deemed a Yellow Ribbon City on Aug. 23 at 3 p.m. during a ceremony held at Inver Hills Community College.

With all of the community's ties to military men and women, it seems like the next step for Rosemount.

"Rosemount residents, businesses, schools, political leaders, civic, and faith based organizations joined together as the (Beyond the Yellow Ribbon) BYR campaign by finding opportunities to pay tribute to our area veterans and show support as a community," according to the Rosemount BYR Facebook page. "Rosemount BYR currently assists local families in need, sponsors veteran related events, offers local training opportunities, and creates pathways for resources for veterans and families affected by struggles related to deployments."

Rosemount TownPages reported today that a "group of about 15 volunteers has been working for the last year to get a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon initiative going in the community."

"Getting recognition as a Yellow Ribbon City shows service members and their families that there is group of people and businesses committed to helping," said Mayor Bill Droste in the Rosemount TownPages article.
