Rosemount Welcomes New Police Officer

Alex Eckstein, a Burnsville native and Apple Valley High School graduate, was sworn in as Rosemount's newest police officer on Tuesday night.

Officer Alex Eckstein was sworn in by Mayor Bill Droste Tuesday evening to become the newest addition to the .

Eckstein has been working with department since August of 2011 as a Community Service Officer and was hired for the full-time patrol officer position from a pool of approximately 250 applicants.

The 2006 Apple Valley High School graduate attended the University of Minnesota where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design. Eckstein continued his education at Rasmussen College earning a law enforcement certificate in March of 2012.

Eckstein began field training as a police officer on April 30 and will assume his patrol duties in Rosemount once that training is completed.

“He’s someone we think will fit in really well,” said Rosemount Police Chief Gary Kalstabakken.
