School Board Recognizes Rosemount Track Team

Members of the Rosemount High School boys' track and field team were recognized Monday by the District 196 School Board.

The District 196 School Board Monday night recognized and offered a round of applause for the 2011 Rosemount High School boys' track and field team.

The team, represented at Monday's meeting by Coach Jay Hatleli and team member Conor Manning, won the state Class AAA true team championship last month for the second time in three years.

Under the "true team" system, a point value is assigned to every competitor in every event with the intention of rewarding a deeper team rather than a squad of elite athletes.

After a brief presentation by Hatleli, the coach and Manning -- and, in absentia, the team -- earned a round of applause, and Hatleli and Manning shook school board members' hands.
