Skier Safety, Tax Reforms Among Topics Apple Valley Legislators Tackle in First Week of Session

The Minnesota Legislature has been back in session for less than a week, and already lawmakers have put many new bills on the table; Apple Valley's legislators—Reps. Kurt Bills (R-District 37B), Rosemount, and Tara Mack (R-District 37A), Apple Valley and Sen. Chris Gerlach (R-District 37), Apple Valley—have authored several.

Rep. Kurt Bills

  • Chief author of a bill that would modify requirements for disinterment and reinterment of cremated remains (House bill HF1880)
  • Author of a bill that would adopt the Minnesota Ski Safety Act. The act would define standards for skier liability. (House bill HF1865)
  • Author of a bill to restrict coverage and terminate contributions to retiring legislators after June 30, 2012, for any legislator first elected after June 30, 1997. (House bill HF1932)

Rep. Tara Mack

  • Chief author of a bill that would adopt the Minnesota Ski Safety Act. The act would define standards for skier liability. (House bill HF1865)
  • Author of a bill that would make several tax reforms, including: exempting the first $100,000 in value of a commercial property from the state's general tax levy; phasing out the state's general tax levy for commercial-industrial properties; increasing maximum homeowner tax refunds; and more.
