U.S. Sen. Al Franken to Visit 2 Apple Valley Schools Thursday

Franken will stop at Southview Elementary and Valley Middle School on Thursday morning.

U.S. Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) is scheduled to visit two Apple Valley schools on Thursday morning, according to a press release from Franken's office.

Franken is slated to read to first-grade students at at 9:30 a.m., then at 10 a.m. to talk to seventh-grade civics students about his job as a senator.

Franken is a member of the Senate Education Committee working to reform the federal "No Child Left Behind" legislation. He plans to meet with local education officials and teachers to gather their input on the reform of the federal "No Child Left Behind" act, which the U.S. Senate will debate later this year, according to a press release.
