4 Apple Valley, Eastview Seniors in Running for AAA Award, Scholarship

A male and female student from each high school are nominated for their excellence in academics, arts and athletics.

Four students who attend high school in Apple Valley have been nominated for the state AAA award, sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League to recognize students who excel in academics, fine arts and athletics.

's nominees are Maren Loe and Zachary Martens. Loe has maintained a 4.0 grade-point average, is a member of several bands, clubs and societies and plays volleyball, for which she was selected for Minnesota's all-state team this past fall.

Martens has maintained a 3.92 grade-point average, is a football, wrestling and track and field athlete and is a member of several choirs.

's nominees are Shannon Field and Zane Larwood.

Each high school nominates one male senior and one female senior for the award each year. A student must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.75, have participated in athletics and fine arts activities. They're also nominated by a staff member.

Four recipients—one boy and one girl from a Class A and Class AA school—will be announced in March. The winners receive a $1,000 scholarship renewable for four years.
