Photos: 3 Apple Valley High Schoolers Sign to Play College Football, Soccer

Three Apple Valley seniors have committed to play college sports starting next school year.

will send off three more seniors to play college sports after they graduate from high school in the spring.

Anna Edgren, Lauren Hoeppner and Zachary Martens on Wednesday all participated in a ceremonial signing of letters of intent to participate in athletics at the colleges of their choice; they'll sign their actual commitment forms

Edgren, a four-year starter on the girls soccer team, has committed to play on the women's soccer team at Bemidji State University. Edgren, who also plays hockey, has "great vision" on the field, Athletic Director Pete Buesgens said Wednesday morning.

Hoeppner will play soccer at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Buesgens said the tenacity of the three-year starter has been impressive.

"You had to drag her off the field" despite any injuries or challenges she was facing, he said.

Martens committed to play on the football team at the Missouri University of Science and Technology. Martens, a three-sport athlete, was the school's state ExCEL award nominee as a junior, and its AAA award nominee as a senior.
