UPDATED: District 196 Joins Area Districts in Canceling Tuesday Classes

Another day of dangerously cold temperatures has closed many schools in the area.

The Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School District has announced that school will be canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 28. The district will make a decision about afternoon and evening activities Tuesday morning.

All District 196 after-school and evening activities for Monday are canceled. 

Tuesday will be the fifth day students will be out of school. The district will add make-up days to the school calendar and will communicate those days when the school board approves them, according to the message on the district website.


The Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District has canceled school on Tuesday due to the forecast of continued dangerously cold weather.

Community education programs are also canceled. The district has asked families to contact coaches and advisors for information about team clubs and meetings. There will be no bus transportation on Tuesday.

The school cancellation message on the district website includes the following:

We know the extraordinary number of closings this month have been a disruption to daily schedules and a burden for working parents, but the actions have been taken with the safety of all students at the forefront. Thanks for your continued patience and understanding. We are eager for the arrival of nicer weather.

The wind chill warning will remain in effect until 12 p.m. on Tuesday. The wind chill Tuesday morning is forecast to be around 40 below.
