Eastview Boys, Girls Seek Section 3AA Soccer Titles on Tuesday

The Eastview girls will play Park in the girls championship game at 5 p.m., and the Lightning boys will play Apple Valley in the boys title game at 7:30.

The top-seeded Eastview High boys and girls soccer teams seek titles on Tuesday in their respective Section 3AA championship games.

The Lightning girls (12-3-1) will play second-seeded Park of Cottage Grove at 5 p.m., while the Eastview boys (11-2-4) will play number-two Apple Valley at 7:30. Both games are at Park High School.

GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP

Eastview reached the section title game with its 3-2 overtime victory over Apple Valley in the section semifinals on Oct. 11. Paige Wilberding scored the game-winning goal in overtime to complete the Lightning's comeback. Eastview was down 2-0 until scoring two goals in the final seven minutes of regulation. The latter goal, on a header by Kayla Tuthill, tied the score at 2-2 with two minutes left.

Park defeated Eagan, 1-0, in its section semifinal on Oct. 11.

BOYS CHAMPIONSHIP

Eastview defeated fourth-seeded Eagan, 2-1, in the section semifinals on Oct. 11. Jimmy Loi scored an unassisted goal five minutes into the game to put the Lightning up, 1-0. Joe Schlosser scored with 28 minutes left in the second half to increase the lead to two goals.

Apple Valley (14-1-3) shut out Rosemount, 2-0, in the other semifinal game. Connor Flanagan got the Eagles on the scoreboard with a first-half goal. Their lead jumped to 2-0 with Kevin Conways’s second-half goal.

Eastview and Apple Valley played to a 1-1 tie on Sept. 13.
