Eastview Community Foundation Plans Annual Garden Party Fundraiser

The fundraiser is scheduled for Aug. 16, and tickets are on sale now.

The Eastview Community Foundation will host its third-annual Summer Garden Party fundraiser from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday, August 16, according to a press release.

The event will be held at 4854 Dominica Way in Apple Valley. Tickets are $20 per person or $35 per couple and can be purchased on the foundation's website.

Funds raised at the Summer Garden Party will go toward scholarships, grants and random-acts-of-kindness funds for area schools. The foundation was formed in 2000 to raise money for academics, arts and athletics projects for Eastview, three middle schools and six elementary schools.

As an example of the type of projects funds might support: One grant awarded in 2012 was for a community garden at and . Funds bought a hands-on tool for food and nutrition education, as well as paid for service-learning education related to the project.

Middle school and elementary students will share garden responsibilities by making weekly visits to the garden to water, weed, touch, taste and learn about the food they are growing. And at the Summer Garden Party, attendees will be able to bid on a gift basket that will contain items provided by the community garden.
