Five Things You Should Know Today: September 19

The sun returns today, but it's not expected to stick around long. Enjoy it while you can.

  1. Skies will be sunny today, with a high near 72 and calm winds, becoming northwesterly between 4 and 7 mph, according to the National Weather Service. The low tonight will be around 52, with partly cloudy skies and more calm winds.  
  2. Middle school students in District 196, including seventh-graders at Rosemount Middle School, will begin Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) testing in math today. The MAP tests will continue Tuesday for Rosemount Middle School seventh-graders; sixth-graders will take MAP math tests Wednesday and Thursday.     
  3. The city of Rosemount has scheduled its fall clean-up day for Oct. 1. Residents are entitled to “discounted disposal” from 8 a.m. until noon that day at the Rosemount Public Works Facility, 14455 Brazil Ave., just north of City Hall. The city has posted more information on its website, along with a price list.     
  4. The younger set – 2 and younger, to be exact – is invited to baby storytime from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. today at the Galaxie Library in Apple Valley. Moms, dads and caregivers are invited, too.
  5. Today is National Butterscotch Pudding Day. Does anyone really like butterscotch pudding? If you do, feel free to indulge without guilt today.
