FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: Rosemount Wins First; Apple Valley Loses First

All three teams from the Apple Valley-Rosemount area played South Suburban Conferene games at home Friday night.

One local team tasted victory for the first time this season on Friday night, while another tasted its initial defeat.

Rosemount won its first game of the year, a 21-14 victory over Bloomington Jefferson.

Apple Valley lost its first game, dropping a 34-26 decision to Prior Lake.

In the other game involving Apple Valley-Rosemount teams, Eastview lost to Lakeville North, 24-7.

ROSEMOUNT 21, BLOOMINGTON KENNEDY 14

In Rosemount, Sean Kalinowski threw a 57-yard touchdown pass and ran 21 yards for another school as the Irish improved its overall record to 1-2 and its South Suburban Conference mark to 1-1.

Ali Kl-Khatib scored Rosemount’s other touchdown on a 26-yard run.

The Irish will host Prior Lake in a conference game at 7 p.m. Sept. 21.

PRIOR LAKE 34, APPLE VALLEY 26

At Apple Valley, Tommy Slinger through for 221 yards and a touchdown, but that wasn’t enough for the Eagles to overcome a tough Prior Lake squad.

Others standing out on offense for Apple Valley, 2-1 overall and 2-1 in the SSC, were Dustin Fronk, with 106 receiving yards; Steve Wilson, a team-leading five catches for 74 yards; and Dustin Austin, with 46 rushing yards.

The Eagles will host Lakeville South in a conference matchup at 7 p.m. Sept. 21.

LAKEVILLE NORTH 24, EASTVIEW 7

At Eastview, the Lightning led 7-3 on a 58-yard touchdown pass from Mark Dwyer to Henry McIsaac before Lakeville North took control with three unanswered touchdowns.

Eastview, 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference, will host Eagan in a conference game at 7 p.m. Sept. 21.
