Senior Citizens: Register for Free College Courses at Ecumen Seasons

Ecumen's Academy for Lifelong Learning lets senior citizens take six-week college courses at its Seasons residence.

senior residence recently concluded its second Academy for Lifelong Learning series, in which residents and other senior community members sign up for college-level courses taught by college instructors right at the Seasons. 

The six-week courses are offered through ; there were two courses in both fall 2011 and spring 2012. 

This spring, Celia Swanson, from the English department, led students through a creative writing course. David Riggs, from the History department, covered the political, social, economic and military history of war in American history, 1940-1980.

The academy courses are free and open to the community, as well as to residents of Ecumen Seasons at Apple Valley. Classes are geared toward people who want to learn—no degrees are required.

Reservations are now being taken for the summer series, which will include another history class and a second subject to be determined soon.
