Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School Board to Interview Seven Candidates for Board Vacancy

The interviews will take place Thursday, Oct. 27

The Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan school board will begin interviewing seven candidates for a vacancy on the board left by long-time member Kevin Sampers, according to chairperson Jackie Magnuson.

“There was a two-week application period that ended Sept. 27. Seven district members submitted an application for the position, and after reviewing all of the applicants, we have decided to interview all seven.”

She said the board would begin interviewing these candidates on Thursday, Oct. 27 during a special school board meeting, which will take place at 6 p.m. at the district’s office.

The seven candidates are:

  • Jeannette Appold of Rosemount;
  • Nancy Dickey of Apple Valley;
  • Betty Fedde of Eagan;
  • Donna Gibbons of Apple Valley;
  • Gary Huusko of Eagan;
  • Roger New of Eagan, and
  • Lisa Noah of Eagan.

According to a District 196 press release, “The board will vote to select the appointee immediately following the interview. The person selected will be sworn in at the board’s Nov. 14 regular meeting and will serve the remaining two years of Sampers’ term, which expires Jan. 6, 2014.”

Magnuson added Sampers "resigned from the board to devote more time to his business." He served 18 years on the school board.
