Thank Apple Valley School Employees During American Education Week

American Education Week celebrates 90 years this year.

This week is American Education Week, where communities across the nation are encouraged to recognize school employees in secretarial, clerical, maintenance, principal and assistant principal roles.

The Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan school district board passed resolutions in October to acknowledge the work of clerical employees, maintenance employees and principals and assistant principals. Even President Obama has made an official declaration.

American Education Week was first designated in 1921, but stemmed from discussions two years earlier between the National Education Association and American Legion in reaction to the fact that 25 percent of World War I draftees couldn't read or write, according to the National Education Association. They wanted to find ways to encourage the public to support education.
