Sports Roundup: Boys Basketball Teams Sweep Tuesday Games

Eastview girls basketball and girls hockey also got Tuesday wins.

Boys Basketball

: The Eagles moved to 4-1 on the season with a 79-51 win over Chaska on Tuesday. Harry Sonie led the team with 17 points, followed by Dustin Fronk's 15. Next game is 8:15 p.m. Dec. 28 against Buffalo at St. Cloud Apollo High School.

: Eastview is 5-0 this season after an 86-63 victory over Spring Lake Park on Tuesday. Thirty-six of the Lightning's points came from Joey King, who currently ranks second in the state in points per game, at 29.8. The Lightning next tip off at home, at 5 p.m. Friday against Moorhead.

Girls Basketball

Apple Valley: The Eagles fell to 4-4 on the season and 1-1 in the South Suburban Conference with a 57-65 loss to Rosemount on Tuesday. Taylor Dagon scored 14 points in the effort. Next game is a 7:15 p.m. Jan. 3 matchup at Prior Lake.

Eastview: Eastview improved to 4-3 overall and 1-1 in conference with a Tuesday win over Bloomington Jefferson, 60-49. Amber Mehr had 23 points for the Lightning, while Madison Guebert followed with 18. The Lightning next play Northfield at 6:15 p.m. Dec. 28 in the St. Olaf Invitational.

Apple Valley: Apple Valley's last game was Saturday's 4-2 win against Lakeville North. The team's next game is 7 p.m. Thursday at home against Eagan.

Eastview: The Lightning moved to 4-3 overall and 1-2-0 in conference after coming out on top against Woodbury on Tuesday, 5-4. Eastview faces Rosemount at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Rosemount Community Center.

Girls Hockey

Apple Valley: The Eagles lost 2-1 to Eagan on Tuesday; the team is 7-5 overall and 3-5-0 in conference. The Eagles next take the ice on Tuesday in Farmington in holiday tournament play.

Eastview: Eastview beat Rosemount 4-3 on Tuesday; the team is 5-6 overall and 4-3-1 in conference. Next up is Eagan at the Apple Valley Sports Arena, at 7 p.m. Jan. 3.

Wrestling

Apple Valley: Over the weekend, the Apple Valley High School wrestling team placed first of 34 teams at the 25th annual Minnesota Christmas Tournament in Rochester on Friday and Saturday. The team finished with 291.5 points; in second place were the Simley High School Spartans with 197.5 points.
