Photos: Apple Valley Football Gets First Taste of Victory With 27-6 Homecoming Win

The Eagles beat Bloomington Jefferson on Friday.

The football team came up with its first win of the season as they took on the Bloomington Jefferson Jaguars on Friday for this year's Homecoming game, 27-6.

Both teams' defenses started out strong, with the score at 6-6 near halftime. But Apple Valley ran a successful two-minute drill offense that was capped with a leaping catch by Mitch Hechsel in the endzone.

At halftime, the Apple Valley marching band and the AVaires dance team entertained the crowd.

In the second half, the Eagles showed an offensive flair that the Jaguars were unable to stop. A tough, physical running game that consistently gave Apple Valley large gains also helped open up a passing game.

Adding two more scores and shutting down the Jefferson offense, Apple Valley was able to run the clock down in the fourth quarter for the victory.
