Apple Valley's Liz Hermes Commits to Play College Hockey at St. Ben's

Hermes will be the first Apple Valley High School girls hockey player in three years to go on to college play.

girls hockey senior captain Liz Hermes has committed to play hockey at the College of Saint Benedict beginning with the 2012-13 season, according to an announcement from the team.

Hermes, a first line left winger, has six goals and 10 assists during the 2011-12 regular season thus far.

Apple Valley girls hockey coach Don Erdall wrote that Hermes will be the first Eagles girls hockey player in three years to go on to play in college; St. Ben's was her first choice of schools, he wrote.

"She has been a very important piece in reinvigorating the program, and will be the first of many players on this roster to continue their careers in college," Erdall wrote.

St. Ben's, a Division III school, is part of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
