Coaching Carousel Hits Eastview, Apple Valley

Familiar face Paul Goetz, a basketball guru at Eastview, will be back on the bench in a head coaching spot. But for whom?

After spending more than a decade turning Eastview’s girls basketball program into an annual participant in the State 4A basketball tournament, former coach Paul Goetz stepped aside to serve as an assistant to the boys’ team so he could watch his son play ball.

Now, according to the Apple Valley-Rosemount-Eagan School District, Goetz is back at the helm of a basketball team at Eastview High, this time leading the boys’ program.

Goetz was a 300-game winner for the Lightning, winning a handful (five) conference titles in his tenure, according to the Star Tribune.

In another move, Ted Reiff will take over the Eastview volleyball program this fall, replacing Becky Egan. Reiff, who was at Benilde and Holy Angels in the past, takes over after Egan went to Hamline University to coach volleyball at that campus.

And at Apple Valley, volleyball coach Shelly Lundin is also moving on, as her husband, Mike, goes to play hockey in Kazahkstan. Heather LaChapelle will take over as the head coach of the Eagles’ netters.
