Eastview Boys Basketball Grits Out 61-54 Win at Tip Off Classic
The Lightning battled a tough Benilde-St. Margaret's in a physical contest that showed they're ready to compete in a tough South Suburban Conference this year.
The boys basketball team improved to 3-0 on Saturday with a gritty, hard-fought 61-54 victory over Class AAA No.1-ranked Benilde-St. Margaret's in the 10th Annual Breakdown Tip Off Classic in Minnetonka.
The Class AAAA third-ranked Lightning are eager to rebound from a disappointing post-season last year, and their Saturday performance showed that they're ready to fight in a tough South Suburban Conference this year.
Darin Haugh paced the Lightning with 22 points and added 19 points and a big, physical defensive presence. Ben Oberfeld contributed 11 points for Eastview as well a number of huge rebounds on BSM offensive misses to help secure a tight game that was closer than the 7-point final margin.

Eastview will next play Spring Lake Park on Dec. 20.
