Eastview Boys Heading to the Dome
The Lightning defeated Moorhead, 2-0, in the quarterfinals of the Class 2A state soccer tournament Thursday evening.

The Lightning scored two first-half goals en route to a 2-0 shutout over Moorhead in the Class 2A state quarterfinals Thursday evening at St. Cloud State University.

Eastview, 13-2-4 overall and the tournament’s third seed, will play the winner of Thursday night’s other quarterfinal match in St. Cloud—No. 2 Stillwater vs. Owatonna—at 6 p.m. Monday at the Metrodome.
Eastview got on the scoreboard with about 27 minutes remaining in the first half when Michael Stockton netted a goal on a throw-in by Sam Fluegge. Pierce Erickson made the score 2-0 with a breakaway goal with about 14 minutes left in the half.

Kyle LaMott played a strong game in goal for the Lightning.
In the other side of the tournament bracket, Blaine came up with the upset of the tournament by defeating previously unbeaten and top-seeded Champlin Park, 2-1, in quarterfinal action at Park (Cottage Grove) High School. Blaine will meet the winner of Thursday’s Minneapolis South-Bloomington Jefferson quarterfinal in the tournament’s other semifinal match on Monday at the Metrodome.
