Football Friday: All Three Local Teams in Upper Division of SSC Standings

Eastview is in second place, a half-game out of first place. Apple Valley is a game behind the leaders, and Rosemount is a 1-1/2 games back.

All three of Apple Valley-Rosemount’s high school football teams are in the upper division of the South Suburban Conference standings as they head into the final Friday of the regular season tonight.

Eastview is in second place in the conference with a 4-1 record in the league, a half-game behind leaders Prior Lake and Lakeville North. Apple Valley is in third place, a game back with a 4-2 conference mark, and Rosemount is 3-2 in the conference.

The regular season wraps up with games on Wednesday, Oct. 17.

Looking at tonight’s games:

GAME—Apple Valley at Burnsville (South Suburban Conference)
PLACE—Burnsville High School
TIME—7 p.m.
TEAM RECORDS—Apple Valley: 4-2 overall, 4-2 SSC; Burnsville: 3-3 overall, 3-3 SSC
LAST WEEK—Apple Valley lost to Eastview, 29-26; Burnsville lost to Lakeville North, 28-7
GAME NOTES—Apple Valley had a 26-0 lead in the third quarter of last
Friday’s game with Eastview before falling to the Lightning’s amazing comeback. Dom McDew-Stauffer had a pair of touchdown runs, including a 70-yarder that put the Eagles up 26-0. Tommy Singer threw for 169 yards and a touchdown….  Burnsville was tied with Lakeville North at 7-7 at halftime of last week’s game before North broke the game open in the second half. Burnsville’s offense struggled, gaining just 82 yards rushing and 66 yards passing. Will Reger had a 23-yard touchdown pass for the Blaze.

TIME—7 p.m.
TEAM RECORDS—Eastview: 4-2 overall, 4-1 SSC; Prior Lake: 5-1 overall, 5-1 SSC
LAST WEEK—Eastview defeated Apple Valley, 29-26; Prior Lake defeated Bloomington Kennedy, 48-6
GAME NOTES—Eastview scored 29 unanswered points in the second half in its victory over Apple Valley. Will Rains had a big night on the ground, rushing for 186 yards and a touchdown. Mark Dwyer completed just four of 11 pass attempts, but two of his throws were for touchdowns…. Prior Lake scored all 48 of its points in the first half in last week’s win over Bloomington Kennedy. Its offense rushed for 372 yards, with Alex Feine running for 100 yards and Blake Weber adding 89 yards and two touchdowns.

PLACE—Rosemount High School
TIME—7 p.m.
TEAM RECORDS—Bloomington Jefferson: 0-6 overall, 0-5 SSC; Rosemount: 3-3 overall, 3-2 SSC
LAST WEEK— Rosemount defeated Lakeville South, 12-0; Bloomington
Jefferson lost to Eagan, 35-0
GAME NOTES— Rosemount’s defense held strong last Friday in the team’s
shutout win over Lakeville South. The Irish held South to under 200 yards in offense, including just 27 yards passing. Jackson Erdmann completed nine of his 10 pass attempts for 89 yards and touchdown, and he rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown…. Winless Bloomington Jefferson had its difficulties with previously winless Eagan as it allowed 202 yards rushing and 141 yards passing. On offense, Bloomington Jefferson threw three interceptions.
