Football Friday: Apple Valley Seeks to Remain Undefeated

The Eagles host Prior Lake in one of three home games in the Apple Valley-Rosemount area tonight.

The hot start by the Apple Valley High football team will be tested in a South Suburban Conference home game against Prior Lake tonight.

The Eagles are on top of the conference standings with a 2-0 mark after defeating Bloomington Jefferson, 30-6, on Sept. 7. They will face a Prior Lake team that struggled against conference foe Lakeville South last week.

In other action involving Apple Valley-Rosemount high school teams, Eastview plays host to undefeated Lakeville North and Bloomington Kennedy travels to Rosemount in a game involving teams looking for their first win.

TEAM RECORDS—Prior Lake: 1-1 overall, 1-1 SSC; Apple Valley: 2-0 overall, 2-0 SSC.
LAST WEEK—Prior Lake lost to Lakeville South, 49-14; Apple Valley defeated Bloomington Jefferson, 30-6.
GAME NOTES—Prior Lake fell behind, 28-0, against a tough Lakeville South squad. Keyanno Reese threw for 67 yards and Nick Hart had 35 yards receiving.... Apple Valley shot out to a 30-0 lead, which it took into the fourth quarter. Scoring touchdowns for Apple Valley were Quinn Hooks, on a 63-yard run and a 71-yard pass from Tommy Singer; Dom McDew-Stauffer, on a 1-yard run; and Steve Wilson, on a 25-yard run.

TEAM RECORDS—Lakeville North: 2-0 overall, 2-0 SSC; Eastview: 1-1 overall, 1-0 SSC)
LAST WEEK—Lakeville North defeated Bloomington Kennedy, 70-25; Eastview lost to Wayzata, 24-7.
GAME NOTES—Lakeville North charged out to a 42-0 en route to crushing Kennedy. Nick Valentini rushed for a team-leading 106 yards and two touchdowns, while Zach Creighton passed for 92 yards and a pair of scores.... Eastview held the metro’s number-two team scoreless after the first quarter and to just three points in the first half. The Trojans took over in the second half, through, with three touchdowns to go out to a 24-0 advantage. Will Rains scored the Lightning’s only touchdown in the fourth quarter.

TEAM RECORDS—Bloomington Kennedy: 0-2 overall, 0-1 SSC; Rosemount: 0-2 overall, 0-1 SSC.
LAST WEEK—Bloomington Kennedy lost to Lakeville North, 70-25; Rosemount lost to Eden Prairie, 34-7.
GAME NOTES—Bloomington Kennedy fell behind big early, but quarterback Travon Hearns threw for three touchdowns.... Rosemount had a difficult time keeping up with the defending state champion Eden Prairie Eagles. Eden Prairie shot out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead. After the Irish cut the lead in half on a 30-yard touchdown pass from Sean Kallinowski to Dimitri Williams, the visiting Eagles scored three unanswered touchdowns.
