McDew-Stauffer ran for a 66-yard score on the second play for Apple Valley last week. The 6-foot, 205-pounder is also expected to play a lot at linebacker in hopes of helping slow down the Kennedy rushing game.

—Tommy Singer (Apple Valley, quarterback)

Coach Mike Fritze said the sophomore was good last week, but still made three or four mistakes. Fritze said Singer throws a nice deep ball.

—Lexis Jones (Bloomington Kennedy, running back)

Probably the best running back in the conference, Jones did not score last week against Apple Valley. Individual stats are not available from that game, but Jones needed just 65 yards to eclipse 1,000 rushing yards for the season. He also has seven touchdowns.

—Travon Hearns (Bloomington Kennedy, quarterback)

Hearns threw for two scores in last week’s win over Apple Valley, forcing the Apple Valley defense to also be aware of Kennedy’s limited passing game.

APPLE VALLEY WINS IF...

...they play their best game after improving all year. Fritze said the defense had guys in good position last week but they were sloppy in trying to make a tackle. He’d also like to see more guys do a better job of getting to the ball to provide security if a runner escapes the first tackle attempt. Fritze said Kennedy converted too many 3rd-and-5 type of plays. Offensively, Fritze said the key will be sustaining drives and not turning over the ball.

KENNEDY WINS IF...

...they wear down the Apple Valley defense by having success on the ground. The defense needs to again contain the Apple Valley backs to force passing situations.
