Former Apple Valley High School Wrestling Champ, 27, Dies of Cancer

Jacob Schlottke was a standout wrestler and two-time state wrestling champion.

Former wrestler Jacob Schlottke, 27, died Thursday after battling cancer for a year and a half, according to a report from the Pioneer Press's Tim Leighton on twincities.com.

Schlottke won two state wrestling titles as an Apple Valley High School student, according to the article; he graduated from high school in 2002 and went to wrestle at Arizona State University, where he injured his knee and ended his wrestling career.

He most recently lived in Albuquerque, NM, according to the article.

"He was a phenomenal talent and a great kid," Apple Valley High School Athletic Director Pete Buesgens told the Pioneer Press.
