A youthful Apple Valley girls soccer team closes out a regular season in which they showed much improvement, as the Eagles play at fifth-ranked Burnsville on Thursday night.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Apple Valley’s balanced attack features a trio of sophomores—Stephanie Syverson, Erica Power and Julia Lam. Co-captain Lauren Hoeppner patrols for the Eagles goal and has five shutouts.

Alyssa Blahnik leads Burnsville with 23 goals this season, while the Blaze goalkeeping tandem of Meghann Rudolph and Darby Lofthus have seven shutouts between them.

APPLE VALLEY WINS IF:

Admittedly, it will take a spirited effort for Apple Valley to win this one, but a good effort against the Blaze—the Eagles' third top-10 opponent in a row—will get the team geared up for the Section 3AA tournament that is set to begin on Oct. 11.
