Photos: Eastview Football Drops Homecoming Contest 31-24 to Bloomington Kennedy

The Eastview Lightning football team struggled to stop the Bloomington Kennedy offense in their Homecoming game Friday night at Eastview.

The football team came into Friday's Homecoming game off a climactic win over Eagan last week, and hoped for the same result against Bloomington Kennedy. Unfortunately, Eastview wasn't able to put together enough of a comeback, and lost 31-24.

Eastview quarterback Ryan Reger was first to score, on a short run with 7:03 on the clock in the first quarter. Bloomington Kennedy answered with a passing touchdown minutes later to tie the score at 7-7.

Later in the first quarter, Eastview settled for a three-point field goal in the first quarter after an arguably missed pass interference call in the endzone.

Bloomington Kennedy scored on a fumble recovery in the endzone to make the score Kennedy 14, Eastview 10, and kicked a field goal late in the second quarter to extend their lead to 17-10.

Kennedy came out quick in the third quarter, and running back Lexis Jones scored a touchdown. Jones ran the ball into the endzone again with 5:11 on the clock in the third quarter, giving Kennedy a 21-point lead.

Eastview put together a comeback with a 78-yard throw from Reger to wide receiver Aaron Wesser for a touchdown; a Reger touchdown pass to wide receiver Austin Hebig further closed the gap, putting Eastview at 24 points to Kennedy's 31.

But Eastview couldn't capitalize on the comeback energy, and missed final attempts to score a touchdown with less than a minute left on the clock.

The 1-3 Eastview Lightning team will play the 0-4 Eagles on Friday at Eastview.
