PHOTOS: Rosemount Native Gives Pro Boxing Debut

Mike 'The Marine' Richman took on Bruce Johnson at the St. Paul Armory

Rosemount native Mike 'The Marine' Richman had his professional boxing debut at the St. Paul Armory this past Friday night.

Richman was favored in the fight and didn't disappoint. After controlling three full rounds, he defeated his opponent, Bruce Johnson, in the fourth round with a KO.

Richman has been a lifelong fan of boxing. After graduating from Rosemount High School in 2003, he joined the marines and served three tours of duty in Iraq.

Richman's time in the service led him to Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) where he has made a name for himself with a record of 9-1-0; he even appeared on Spike TV's The Ultimate Fighter Season 12.

His promoters and managers agreed that boxing was the next step for his career, but Richman said MMA will always be his true love. Even so, he's excited for his future in boxing and is looking to take on anyone that will step in the ring with him.
