RHS Winter Sports Update
Here's where RHS's teams stand with the post-season looming or, in a couple of cases, already here.
For some teams, the playoffs are already under way. But for most, they're right around the corner. Here's a look at how those teams are doing so far this season.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Record: 7-14 overall, 2-11 (tied for ninth) South Suburban Conference
Lately: The Irish have dropped four straight since a 63-57 win over Burnsville on Jan. 24.
Down the stretch: The team has five regular-season games remaining, starting tonight at home against Lakeville South.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Record: 9-10 overall, 3-8 (tied for seventh) South Suburban Conference
Lately: The Irish are 2-3 in their last five games after letting a nine-point halftime lead slip away in a two-point home loss to Prior Lake on Monday.
Down the stretch: After tonight's matchup at Lakeville South, the Irish will have six more regular-season games remaining, giving them plenty of time to make a move in the league standings.

BOYS HOCKEY
Record: 4-18, 1-14 (ninth) South Suburban Conference
Lately: The Irish haven't won since a 4-2 victory over Bloomington Kennedy on Jan. 19. They had a chance to end that streak last Thursday against Eastview, but the Lightning scored three goals in the third period for a 6-5 victory.
What's left: Just three regular-season games remain for the Irish, who will enter the playoffs as heavy underdogs regardless of who they face.
GIRLS HOCKEY
Record: 8-13-4, 5-9-4 South Suburban Conference (final)
Lately: The Irish's season ended Wednesday in a 4-3 loss to Apple Valley, a team they'd beaten three times—each by a single goal— during the regular season.

WRESTLING
Team: The Irish are listed in the “Lean and Mean” section of the latest state rankings, putting them somewhere between 13th- and 19th-ranked in the state. That makes them the No. 2 team in their section behind Apple Valley.
Individuals: Three Rosemount individuals are ranked in the top 10 in their respective weight class. They are: Dan Rosa (junior, seventh at 113 pounds), Steve Levine (senior, sixth at 126), Adam Jackson (senior, second at 152).
GYMNASICS
Lately: The team wrapped up the regular season Monday at Eagan.
What's left: The section tournament is Friday, Feb. 17, and the state meet is the following Friday, Feb. 24.
NORDIC SKIING
Lately: Nick Couillard and David Bumgarner finished fourth and ninth respectively at Tuesday's section meet.
What's left: Both will compete in the state meet Tuesday.
BOYS SWIMMING
Lately: All that stands between the Irish and another unbeaten season is their meet at Prior Lake tonight.
What's left: Sections are Wednesday through Friday, Feb. 22-24, and the state meet is March 1-3.
