Rosemount Boys Basketball Falls to Apple Valley
The Irish couldn't pull a second upset in section play, as the Eagles advance to Friday's championship
The Rosemount boys basketball team couldn’t ride the momentum of upsetting Eagan on Tuesday, as the Irish lost a 67-59 contest with Apple Valley in Saturday’s Section 3AAAA semifinal at St. Olaf College in Northfield.
The Eagles will face Lakeville South for the section championship on Friday at 7 p.m. in Northfield.
Apple Valley led 38-28 at halftime and held on for the victory. The Eagles were led by Tyus Jones’ 21 points, while Tom Schalk had 18 points and Dustin Fronk and Gavin Bronson each had nine.

For Rosemount (7-21), Matt Nelson had 13 points and Evan Mitchell and Brandon Forcier each had nine points.
The Eagles (19-9) have won their last seven games and 12 of their last 13 games. The Irish upset second-seed Eagan 60-59 on Tuesday to advance to the semifinals.
