Rosemount Irish Lose Sloppy Game To Eastview

The Rosemount High School varsity hockey team was looking for any win in their mostly disappointing season, but they didn't find it Saturday.

The Irish varsity team faced off against the Eastview Lightning at the Rosemount Community Center with a grisly record, and ended with a worse one at 2-11 in the South Suburban Conference thus far.

The Irish were off to a good start with seven shots on goal to Eastview’s five and a goal from No. 9 Justin Hummelgard.  The check-heavy first period had Irish goalie Hank Fairchild shutting down fast offense from Eastview’s Bryce Gustafson and Nick Cerrato.

Rosemount some breathing room, but that was the last high-point for the team.
A tripping call on Connor Langfield gave Eastview a power play.  And some 30 seconds later, the Lightning’s Alex Pavlo capitalized on the error for a goal.  A minute later, Gustafson sank another one -- ending the second period 4-2 Eastview.

Eastview kept the pressure on and Kevin Wobschall hit the net again with 1:45 left in the game.

Eastview coach Drey Bradley said that the momentum of the first goal helped carry the team to the win.  The Lightning still aren’t faring much better than the Irish, they’re standing at 5-8-1 in the South Suburban conference.

The Rosemount Irish varsity team plays again Thursday versus Bloomington Jefferson at home.
