Rosemount Loses Hard-Fought Softball Game

Irish jump out to early lead, but fail to close out Lakeville North and lose 7-6 at game's end.

As the softball game began, it seemed that the big pendulum of momentum was in Rosemount's corner. But as the game progressed, that pendulum began to swing over to the Lakeville North team.

After jumping out to a 5-0 lead, the Rosemount High School team scored only one more run the rest of the game. Still, pitching and defense held the Lakeville North team without a hit until the fourth inning, when the momentum began to change.

After allowing the first hit of the game, the Lakeville North team began to rally and scored four runs in the inning. Rosemount responded by scoring one run in the top of the fifth, but Lakeville North continued to gain steam and scored two in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at six.

Both teams then tightened up on defense and neither team scored for three innings. In the bottom of the ninth, with the bases loaded, a short fly ball dropped in center field for Lakeville North, to score the winning run, and giving Rosemount a 7-6 defeat.
