Rosemount Track and Field Athletes Head to State

The state track and field championships are set for this weekend. Rosemount High School has a number of athletes in the competition.

A number of athletes will compete in the Minnesota State High School League track and field championships this week. The two-day event will be held Friday and Saturday at Hamline University in St. Paul

Freshman Rachel Schow could be poised to challenge for a state title in the 100-meter hurdles, but she faces some tough competition. Her time of 14.49 is just behind defending champion Jessica January of Richfield (14.29). January won the event in 2011 with a time of 14.78 and set the Class AA record in 2010 with a time of 14.33.

Schow will also compete in the 200-meter dash.

Natalie Busher will represent Rosemount in both the high jump and triple jump while Katie Duff will compete in the discus throw. Madeline Phillips will compete in the 300-meter hurdles.

On the boys’ side, Chandler Dye will represent the Irish in the 1600-meter run while the 4x200-meter relay team also qualified for the state competition.
