Soccer Shots Partners With Apple Valley and Rosemount Preschools

The company looks to promote healthy lifestyles among youth and provide an extracurricular activity for schools.

A new youth soccer franchise has partnered with two Apple Valley and Rosemount preschools in attempt to bring an extracurricular activity to the schools and introduce the game to children.

Soccer Shots, owned by local franchisee Dan Larson, is working with Leaps and Bounds of Rosemount and Tutor Time in Apple Valley on summer programs.

The business works with kids 2-8 years old during once-a-week 30-minute sessions, he said. In addition to teaching the basics of the sport, the company tries to “use soccer as a vehicle to teach healthy habits to kids,” Larson said.

“And it’s a way for the school to offer an extracurricular that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to,” he said.

Summer camps at Woodbury parks are also in the works, said Larson, who played soccer in high school and at Hamline University in St. Paul, and also coached youngsters for a few years.

Soccer Shots, he said, is “a way to positively impact the community with something that I know.”
