Sports Roundup: Apple Valley, Eastview Boys Soccer Roll Up Wins

The Eagles and Lightning went four-for-four in last week's games, and the Lightning are now ranked No. 1.

The and boys soccer teams combined for four victories last week, taking three total wins against the South Suburban Conference.

A 1-0 shutout of visiting Prior Lake last Thursday followed a 2-0 defeat of two days earlier and gave the Apple Valley boys soccer team a 6-2-1 record entering this week.

Mitchell Dawson leads the Eagles with five goals this season, with Connor Flanagan logging three scores thus far.

Lightning Boys Soccer

The now-No. 1 Eastview boys soccer team shut out Eagan, 1-0, on Thursday before defeating , 3-1, on Saturday to improve to 9-0 on the season.

Mathew Gweh leads the Lightning with 15 goals, with goalkeeper Treston Kederer making 14 saves for his third shutout in the Eagan win, then stopping five more shots versus Hudson to improve to 6-0 in the nets.

Eagles Girls Soccer

The Apple Valley girls soccer team tied Prior Lake, 0-0, on Thursday to move to 3-5-1 entering this week. Individual statistics were not made available. 

Lightning Girls Soccer

Two consecutive 1-0 losses, against No. 7 Eagan last Thursday and on Saturday, dropped the Eastview girls soccer team to 6-2-1 on the season and to eighth in the state rankings.

Paris Sanders leads the Lightning with 10 points on eight goals, while Kellie McGahn has six assists and Taryn MacMillan logging five goals this year. 

Eagles Girls Swimming and Diving

The Apple Valley girls swimming and diving team lost to Rosemount, 91-84, last Thursday.

Steph Bierman took first in the 50-yard freestyle, with Delaney McDonald also winning the 200-yard freestyle in 1:59.04 and the 100-yard butterfly in 1:00.27.

The Eagles also scored 542 points to finish second in the Apple Valley Invitational on Saturday. 

Eagles Volleyball

Two consecutive 3-0 victories, including a sweep of Prior Lake last Thursday, upped the Apple Valley volleyball team's record to 6-3 this season. Individual statistics were not made available. 

Lightning Volleyball

A second-straight 3-0 loss, this time to ninth-ranked Eagan last Thursday, dropped the Eastview volleyball team to 4-6 on the year. Individual statistics were not made available. 

Eagles Girls Tennis

The Apple Valley girls tennis team took fifth at the Rochester Invitational Tournament on Saturday after losing 6-1 to Prior Lake two days earlier.

The No. 2 doubles team of Anna Nguyen/Mouy Bun claimed the Eagles' lone victory against the Lakers. Apple Valley entered this week at 9-4 on the year.

Lightning Girls Cross Country

The Eastview girls cross country runners finished in the middle of the pack at Saturday's Heartland Classic in Ames, IA, competing against teams from four other state.

Senior Courtney Conroy led the Lightning, running the two-and-a-half miles in under 16 minutes; freshmen Hanah Metoxen and Lauren Herland followed.

Scores and statistics for the Eastview boys cross-country, girls tennis and girls swim/dive teams and Apple Valley cross country were not made available.
