Sports Roundup: Eagles, Lightning Soccer Teams Add Tallies to Win Column

The Apple Valley and Eastview volleyball squads, however, came up short in season openers against ranked opponents.

Apple Valley Volleyball

Third-ranked hung a four-game loss on the visiting Apple Valley volleyball team on Tuesday, topping the Eagles 25-20, 25-13, 24-26, 25-20.

Eastview Volleyball

The Eastview volleyball team fell prey to fourth-ranked on Tuesday, losing 25-20, 25-21, 25-19 at home.

Eastview Girls Soccer

A 3-0 win at Coon Rapids on Tuesday ran the Eastview girls soccer team's record to 3-0 on the season.

Taryn MacMillan leads the Lightning with four goals so far, with Paris Sanders, Leah Nesheim and Emily Sutliff scoring two goals each in the early goings.

Eastview plays at at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Apple Valley Girls Soccer

The Apple Valley girls soccer team earned its first win of the year with a 2-0 defeat of Farmington on Tuesday to improve to 1-2.

Individual statistics were not available. The Eagles play at Champlin Park at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Eastview Boys Soccer

Like the Eastview girls, the Lightning boys soccer team also upped its mark to 3-0 with a 3-0 win at Coon Rapids on Tuesday.

Matthew Gweh leads Eastview with seven points on four goals and three assists, with Brennan Espinda Banick notching five points on four assists and one goal.

The Lightning play at Lakeville South at 7 p.m. next Tuesday.

Apple Valley Girls Tennis

The Apple Valley girls tennis team topped Bloomington Jefferson, 6-1, on Wednesday. 

Individual statistics were not available. The Eagles play at Bloomington Kennedy at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Eastview Girls Tennis

The Eastview girls tennis team beat Lakeville South by a 4-3 score on Wednesday.
