Sports Roundup: Eastview, Apple Valley Boys Basketball Remain Ranked No. 1, 3 in State

Both girls basketball teams also came up with multiple wins in the past week.

Boys Basketball

: Apple Valley is 12-2 after Friday's 85-44 win against Burnsville. Sophomore Tyus Jones led the scoring effort with 26 points, and the team is ranked No. 3 in Class 4A as of last week Wednesday. Next game is a big match-up—7:15 p.m. Tuesday at home against No. 4 Lakeville North.

: Eastview remains ranked No. 1 in Class 4A as of last week, and is also undefeated on the season, with a 14-0 record after Thursday's 60-45 win over Prior Lake. Joey King had 23 of those points. Next up for the Lightning is a 7:15 p.m. Tuesday game at home against Lakeville South.

Girls Basketball

Apple Valley: Apple Valley has pulled up to 4-4 in the South Suburban Conference and 9-7 on the season with Friday's 53-49 win over Burnsville, as well as Tuesday's 67-45 win against Eagan. Next game is a 7:15 p.m. Tuesday matchup at Lakeville North.

Eastview: Eastview 12-4 overall and 7-1 in conference, second behind an 8-0 Bloomington Kennedy team. The Lightning beat Prior Lake 53-42 on Thursday, and trounced Rosemount 69-28 on Tuesday last week. They'll be away at Lakeville South on Tuesday, with tipoff scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

Boys Hockey

Apple Valley: In the past week, the Eagles notched two wins of three games: Thursday brought a 4-0 victory over Eastview, Saturday the Eagles had a 2-0 win over Bloomington Jefferson. The loss was a 6-4 defeat against No. 1 Duluth East last week Tuesday. Read more about each game here, and see photos here. Next up for the Eagles is a 7 p.m. Thursday game at home against Prior Lake.

Eastview: Apart from Eastview's Thursday 4-0 loss to Apple Valley, the Lightning also lost 4-1 to Bemidji on Friday. Eastview is at Burnsville at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Girls Hockey

Apple Valley: The 10-10 Eagles topped Eastview 4-3 in last week Tuesday's game, but fell Saturday to Bloomington Jefferson, 2-1. The team will face Prior Lake at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Apple Valley Sports Arena.

Eastview: Eastview fell short against Apple Valley last week Tuesday, and again against Shakopee on Saturday, losing that contest 5-2. The Lightning next play Burnsville on Tuesday.
