Sports Roundup: Everson’s OT Goal Lifts Apple Valley
The Eagles girls hockey team improved its overall record to 6-1 with a 5-4 conference victory over Lakeville South on Friday.
Emily Everson scored a goal on an assist from Rachel Goodman at the 3:20 mark in overtime as the Apple Valley High girls hockey team nipped Lakeville South, 5-4, in South Suburban Conference action Friday.
The victory improved the Eagles’ overall record to 6-1 and conference mark to 2-1, good for second place behind conference-leading Lakeville North.
Everson, a junior forward, scored a pair of goals in the game, as did sophomore forward Erica Power. Sophomore Bailey Hagert had the other goal. Goodman finished with three assists.

The Eagles will play conference rival Eastview Tuesday.
Eastview will enter Tuesday’s matchup with a 2-5 overall mark and 1-2 conference record. The Lightning last played on Nov. 29, a 6-1 victory over Prior Lake.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Eastview opened the season’s first week with a pair of victories in three games. In the Lightning’s 62-49 win over Park on Thursday, Madison Guebert scored a game-high 21 points, while Amber Mehr added 13.
Also during the past week, the Lightning defeated Prairie Seeds Academy, 56-17, on Nov. 25 and fell to White Bear Lake, 42-30.
Apple Valley stands at 1-1 after the first week, with a 70-35 win over Rochester John Marshall on Tuesday and a 64-35 loss to Eden Prairie on Friday.
Jaryn Pipkins scored a team-high 14 points for the Eagles in their loss to Eden Prairie.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Eastview opened its season Friday with a 92-55 victory at Duluth East on Friday.
Apple Valley kicks off its season Tuesday with a home game against Eden Prairie.
