Got a Dog? Sign On to Mentor Matt

Each week, Apple Valley Patch posts the profile of a child waiting for a mentor through south metro nonprofit Kids 'n Kinship.

First name: Matt

Age: 12

Interests: Matt likes to play football and basketball and to wrestle. He would like to go to a park to play catch with a football, or go to the science museum, the YMCA or waterparks with a mentor.

Personality: Matt is a quiet, easygoing but active boy. His mom wants a mentor to help him open up other others more and to focus on his schoolwork.

Goals/Dreams: Matt would love it if his mentor has a dog, since he misses the dog he used to have.

Looking For: A male mentor who is active and who likes going places and doing things together.

For More Information: Matt is one of almost 60 children waiting for a mentor through , a private nonprofit serving Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eagan, Farmington, Lakeville and Rosemount in Dakota County for 39 years. If you're interested in becoming a mentor, you're invited to attend an information session from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Burnhaven Library in Burnsville. Mentors can volunteer as individuals, couples, or families for weekly fun and enriching activities at home or in the community on their own schedules.
