Tuesday, Apple Valley will get its first taste of Chik-fil-A, a Georgia-based fast food company that is making inroads into Minnesota, with new locations in Bloomington, Coon Rapids and Maple Grove in addition to our town.
To stir up interest in advance of opening, the company will host a party at Apple Valley's Johnny Cake Ridge Park on Tuesday, Aug. 13. From 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. guests will be able to sample the restaurant's signature Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich, ride hot air balloon and play games.
The Apple Valley Chik-fil-A will be adjacent to the Cub Foods, along Cedar Avenue and 153rd Street. The Apple Valley City Council gave the business final approval on Feb. 28, 2013.

• This week the Rosemount City Council will discuss the city budget for 2014 and take a peek at the latest plans for the Steeple Center.
• Augustana Care of Apple Valley will be hosting a Food and Wine Tasting Fundraiser on Thusday, Aug. 15, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30. Proceeds will be used to purchase chairs for the Augustana Care Apple Valley Villa Chapel.
