The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be holding open houses to deal with traffic congestion on Highway 77.
Apple Valley residents may be getting some relief from traffic on their Highway 77 commutes. The Minnesota Department of Transportation is looking to add managed lanes on the highway between 140th Street West in Apple Valley and Old Shakopee Road in Bloomington in an effort to decrease congestion. MnDOT is considering three options: MnDOT will be seeking the opinions of residents, business owners and motorists are invited to attend two open houses on: The project is also looking at improved bus access to the Cedar Grove Transit Station in Eagan. Open house attendees will be able to learn the details of the project, view project layouts and ask questions of MnDOT project staff.

Funeral arrangements are set for Thursday morning for Margorie Ann Holland, nee Brown, who died under suspicious circumstances on Thursday. Visitation will be Wednesday evening in Faribault.
The south metro region is mourning the loss of Margorie Ann Holland, a 37-year-old woman who was slain last Thursday. She was 15 weeks pregnant at the time of her death. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Thursday, March 14 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Faribault. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. the day prior, Wednesday, at Boldt Funeral Home in Faribault. Holland, nee Brown, lived in Apple Valley with her husband. She was a longtime resident of Faribault and a member of the Army National Guard. Her family has a long history of service in the military. David Bernard Vanbeck, of Apple Valley, passed away surrounded by his family on Feb. 27, 2013 at the age of 61. Vanbeck was a longtime employee of the Ford Motor Company in St. Paul, where he worked for 30 years. He is preceded in death by his son, Jason, and brother, Gary Vanbeck. Vanbeck is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Pamela; daughters, Tanya (Gibran) Lorenzano and Chantal Vanbeck; grandchildren, Aiden and Ashton Vanbeck; parents, Marty and Harriet Vanbeck; siblings, Patricia (Bob) Fritz, Linda (Steve) Isaacson and Tony (Rhadora) Vanbeck; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Tyrone Mitchell III, of Apple Valley, passed away Feb. 24, 2013 at the age of 25. "I was Tyrone's guidance counselor at Eastview, and he was one who touched my heart. I know that we are not supposed to have 'favorite students' but I am not afraid to say that Tyrone is and will always be a favorite," wrote Anne Scholen in Mitchell's online guestbook. A mother and her 9-month-old baby daughter died on Feb. 8.
A Rosemount mother and her baby daughter died in a tragic accident Feb. 8. Kelly Christine Kane, 36, and her 9-month-old daughter Olivia Catherine, both died on Feb. 8, according to an obituary posted by Henry W. Anderson Mortuary Services. From the obituary: We lost our beloved daughter and granddaughter. We are truly lost. They brought so much joy and happiness not only to our world but to all that knew them. We are blessed to be their family. Dad and mom Bob & Cathy, brother and sister-in-law John & Lauren, nieces she adored Hailee & Simone & her love Rob Sipek.
