Like us on Facebook | Get our newsletter | Follow us on Twitter | Start a blog The death of a 33-year-old man during a townhome fire on Sunday morning is Eagan's first fire-related fatality since 2004, according to Eagan Fire Chief Mike Scott. Eagan resident Roger Yarusso was killed in the blaze, according to a Star Tribune report. Two of his roommates sustained head, back and leg injuries when they jumped from a second story window to escape the fire, Scott said. The fire began in a first story living room around 6 a.m., Scott said. By the time emergency responders arrived on the scene, the structure—a four-unit townhome complex at 1527 Aspen Drive—was fully engulfed in flames. A family will be displaced from their home for three to four months due to a fire that destroyed part of their home on Redwood Drive.
Like us on Facebook | Get our newsletter | Follow us on Twitter | Start a blog On Monday morning, Tom Murphy woke to a living nightmare. His daughter was getting ready for school when she noticed a haze fillling the house. He checked all the rooms in the house, but found nothing. Then he saw it: Flames shooting from the southwest corner of the house, near the chimney. The blaze had already spread to the siding. The family evacuated immediately. Though the fire was building in intensity, he was able to beat it back a bit with fire extinguishers until the Apple Valley Fire Department arrived at the home in the 900 block of Redwood Drive. By that time, the smoldering blaze had become a three alarm fire, Apple Valley Fire Chief Nealon P. …

Firefighters were on the scene of Friday’s structure fire on 139th Street West for more than four hours.
The cause of Friday afternoon’s fire on 139th Street West in Apple Valley remains under investigation. Scott Mattingly, Apple Valley’s assistant fire chief, said Saturday morning that investigators still had not pinpointed what ignited the fire. They believe it started in the garage of wood-frame structure. “It doesn’t appear to be anything suspicious at this time,” he said. Also yet to determined is whether the structure is a total loss. Mattingly estimated damage to be at least $100,000. The family that resides in the home was displaced, he said. Family members stayed with relatives Friday night. Fire crews were called to the scene of the fire, at 5961 139th St. W.—just north of the intersection of 140th Street West and Johnny Cake Ridge…
