At its 7 p.m. Thursday meeting, the Apple Valley City Council will consider a conditional-use permit, as well as a site plan/building permit authorization, to build one of the chain's drive-thru restaurants at the intersection of Cedar Avenue and 153rd Street. Thursday night's vote will be the final city action on the proposed restaurant's construction, which was unanimously approved in January by the city's planning commission. There are already several locations of the Georgia-based restaurant chain—best known for its breaded chicken sandwiches—in Minnesota: at Minneapolis…

Developers want to build a Chick-fil-A restaurant and a multi-tenant retail building adjacent to the Cub Foods along Cedar Avenue in Apple Valley.
Concern over parking and pedestrian connections at a recent Apple Valley City Council meeting didn't derail a development project that could bring a Chick-fil-A restaurant to the city's Cedar Avenue business district. The council unanimously approved a subdivision request and authorized a building permit for the development proposal during a council meeting on Oct. 25. Developers want to divide an 11.63-acre property—currently the site of a Cub Foods store—into three separate parcels, build a Chick-fil-A restaurant and construct another 7,000-square-foot, multi-tenant retail building on the site. The property is located at the corner of 153rd Street and Cedar Avenue. In conjunction with the new development, Supervalu, which owns Cub Foods…

The company wants to start construction of the restaurant—at the southeast corner of Cedar Avenue and 153rd Street—next spring.
Like us on Facebook | Get our newsletter | Follow us on Twitter | Start a blog The Apple Valley Planning Commission on Wednesday night took its first look at a sketch plan for the Chick-fil-A restaurant proposed at the southeast corner of Cedar Avenue and 153rd Street. The informal plan for the site did not meet several city zoning requirements, including minimum distance from a residential area and a 50-foot setback from Cedar Avenue. But, planning commissioners and a Chick-fil-A representative expressed willingness to work toward making the restaurant become a reality. Chick-fil-A wants to built a 4,585 square-foot restaurant in an outlot planned as part of the Cub Foods renovation. The restaurant would seat 106 customers and would have …

I love the fact that Rosemount has a wide range of restaurants, from national chains to locally-owned diners. But there are a few restaurants we would love to see open in Rosemount in 2011. While expecting all five to make it here in the next year might be unrealistic, even adding one to the city's landscape would be a great treat for the New Year.
