The foundation ranked 59th in donations received, with nearly $25,000, among the organizations registered with giveMN.org.
On Wednesday, 47,535 donors gave more than $13.5 million to almost 4,000 Minnesota nonprofit organizations for the annual Give to the Max Day, hosted online by giveMN.org. The Minnesota Zoo Foundation ranked 59th among all the organizations (excluding higher education) in money received, bringing in $24,727. Ecumen, which operates the Seasons senior residence in Apple Valley, was a recipient of one of 24 golden tickets awarded during the Wednesday fundraising drive, providing the organization an extra $1,000. The Karen Wyckoff Rein in Sarcoma Foundation, for which the Race for Grace annual event in Apple Valley raises funds, received $3,694 and was 152nd among small nonprofits. GiveMN.org will provide added incentives for nonprofit organizations and projects to bring in donations during the 24 hours of Wednesday this week, known as Give to the Max Day.
For the past two years, giveMN.org has given Minnesota residents the chance to easily donate online to their favorite nonprofit groups. But each year, the stakes are raised on a single day for organizations to solicit donations. During a 24-hour period known as Give to the Max Day, which this year starts 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, there are added bonuses for organizations that bring in donations (via credit card or debit card on the giveMN.org site only). This year, giveMN.org has $4,299,779 in match funds for participating groups—including many based in Apple Valley—that meet certain goals for donations and money raised on Wednesday.
