Eastview Defense Snaps Eagan's Winning Streak, Heads to State

Eagan and Eastview squared off in the section championship on Thursday night in St. Paul. Unable to get past the Lightning's defensive line, Eagan lost 4-1.

Eastview High School dashed the Eagan High School boys hockey team's hopes for another trip to the state tournament on Thursday night in a decisive, 4-1 victory at the Section 3AA championship game in St. Paul. Eastview's John Snodgrass and Cole Cooper scored in the first period to give the Lightning an early 2-0 lead. The Lightning expanded that lead, scoring additional goals in the second and third periods. With a little less than five minutes left in the third period, Wildcats forward Zach Glienke put one past Eastview goalie Zachary Driscoll, giving Eagan its only goal of the game. The Lightning have only allowed four goals in the past eight games, according to a report in the Pioneer Press. The team's victory Thursday will propel them…

School District 196 STEM Career Fair Draws Hundreds

Students had a chance to rub elbows with roughly 80 professionals in science, technology, engineering and math-related careers at Eagan High School on Tuesday.

Eagan High School junior Rachel Schornak came to the school's STEM Career Fair on Tuesday night with pressing questions about biomedical engineering, her chosen career path. She left with a clearer view of the industry and her future educational path, courtesy of the roughly 80 science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) professionals gathered at the event—the first of its kind at the high school. "They gave you tips on what college path to go on, they explained more of what they do, and more insight into what the industry has," said Schnorak, a high school gymnast. Eastview High School Boys Hockey Will Battle Eagan in Section Championship

The winner of Thursday's Section 3AA championship game will head to the boys hockey state tournament March 6-9.

Can Eastview pull off a repeat performance at the Section 3AA championship on Thursday at the State Fair Coliseum in St. Paul? Third-seeded Eastview, 17-9-1 on the season, will challenge the Eagan boys hockey team, 23-3-1, at 7 p.m. on Feb. 28. The winner of Thursday's game will advance to the boys hockey state tournaments March 6-9. STEM Career Fair for Dakota County Students Taking Place Feb. 26

Students from all area high schools and their parents are invited to Eagan High School to learn more about careers in science, technology, engineering and math.

The fair, sponsored by the EHS First Robotics Team, Thomson Reuters and International Office Technologies will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the student commons. The event is free and open to the public. VIDEO: 'The Voice' Star Nicholas David Makes an Impression at Eagan High School

Eagan High School graduate Nicholas David, who took third place on "The Voice" in 2012, returned to his alma mater for a pep fest performance on Thursday.

Crotty wasn't the only student wowed by the musician's afternoon performance during the performance, which took place during the high school's pep fest event. Hundreds of students packed the gymnasium floor to dance, shoot video with their smartphones and take in Nicholas' laid back vibe. Rosemount’s Brandon Ekeren kicked a game-winning 31-yard field goal with just 12 seconds left to lift the Irish past the Wildcats. The Irish won with a final score of 17-16. The loss dropped the Wildcats to 0-4 in the South Suburban Conference and 0-5 on the season. It was the second straight heartbreaking loss for the Wildcats, who lost to Eastview 15-12 last week.
