On May 5, Eastview players, parents and coaches pitched in to help law enforcement search for Matula in an five-county area northwest of the Twin Cities. “It’s really an eye-opening experience for all of us,” coach Trevor Monroe told the paper. “As a coaching staff, we talk about keeping things in perspective. The high school was one of 28 schools in the state to make the Washington Post’s High School Challenge list.
Eastview High School climbed three places in the Washington Post’s list of the most-challenging high schools, according to rankings released last week. The Washington Post’s High School Challenge ranked Eastview 7th in the state for how it prepares students for college. Nationally, the school was ranked 583rd out of 1,982 schools that made the list. Last year, it was 10th in the state. Apple Valley High School also made the list this year at 25th in the state. Dustin Hatzenbuhler said it was still "the best day of my life" after celebrity judges Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira and Usher cut him from "The Voice" during the blind audition round.
Eastview High School graduate Dustin Hatzenbuhler's rendition of the Michael Buble’s “Haven’t Met You Yet” didn't pack enough punch to turn the chairs of the judges Tuesday night on NBC's "The Voice". But Adam Levine and Shakira told the 24-year-old during the blind audition round that he should keep trying to make it on the hit singing competition, and Hatzenbuhler's spirit remained strong. "This is the best day of my life," he said. "The feedback they gave was great and I'm going to put it in my heart and take it home, and I would love to come back and give this another shot." Hatzenbuhler is living in Minneapolis with his parents, who supported his decision to skip college and release a solo album. Levine was taken aback at the length …
Eagan resident and Eastview High School grad Dare Van Waes was named Miss Teen Minnesota at the statewide Miss Coed Minnesota Pageant on March 23-24 in Minneapolis.
Dare Van Waes isn't your stereotypical pageant girl. A full-time student at Inver Hills Community College, Van Waes holds down five jobs as a waitress, theater intern, a UPS employee and as a staffer at two separate modeling agencies. The Eastview High School graduate also lives on her own—no small achievement for an 18-year-old. In between it all, Van Waes still finds time to pursue her passion for pageantry. Late last month, she was named Miss Teen Minnesota in the Miss Coed Minnesota Pageant—a historic 'first' for Van Waes. This November, she'll compete at the National Miss American Coed Pageant in Florida. It's not surprising, given her own resume, that Van Waes is quick to correct any misperceptions about the Miss Coed Minnesota …
