FINALIST: Help a Minnesota School District Win $100,000

A home in Mendota Heights is the only finalist in Patch's Deck the House contest that's in Minnesota. Vote now to show our Midwest spirit!

Patch's Deck the House contest has moved on to the next phase, where 24 finalists were chosen out of all the photos of holiday house decorations submitted nationwide. The Mendota Heights home of Dan and Sue Wills was selected from hundreds of entries as one of 24 national finalists in the Patch Deck the House contest—the only finalist in Minnesota. Now, the entry is eligible to win $100,000 for the District 197 School District. The top vote-getter of the 24 finalists wins the prize for their local schools. The deadline for voting is Sunday and you can find the Wills home entry at this link. You can vote every day! There are no residency restrictions for voting. If you own a digital SLR (digital camera) and want to be able to show off your home and holiday lights, here are some tips and tricks to getting a good picture at night to share with family and friends that may not be able to see your work of art in person. Plan ahead of time: The last thing you want to do is to be running in and out of your house because you forgot something. Gather up everything you need before you go out so you have more time to enjoy experimenting with night photography.
